Company places order to buy local ginger, turmeric in bulk : MOMA

A particular company has placed an order to procure organic ginger and turmeric grown in Manipur in bulk, informed Additional Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservations cum Project Director of MOMA K Debdutta Sharma, today.
K Debdutta Sharma made the remark while inspecting the harvesting of organic ginger planted at Phalee Village in Ukhrul under MOVCDNER-III.
The Project Director of MOMA continued that the company placed an order to buy 2000 MT of dried ginger and 500 MT of dried turmeric.
Saying that a consignment of ginger and turmeric will be sold to the company after going through a sample testing for chemical residue at a laboratory, K Debdutta Sharma maintained that the farmers of the State will be greatly benefitted if big companies start to buy organic produce from the State.
He said that plantations of ginger started at Chatrik, Chingjaroi, Tolloi and Phalee Villages of Ukhrul under MOVCDNER-III from 2022 by forming different clusters of FPCs.
Continuing that ginger harvested today were planted by Shivathei FPC, he added that they will help in marketing the produce.
He also said that the farmers have been trained on post harvest management and utilisation of technology.
It is expected that 10 to 20 MT of organic would be harvested from Phalee Village.

The Project Director also said that MOMA will buy the ginger from the farmers at Rs 20 per kilogram.
