6th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival kicks off

The 6th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival kicked off today at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
The 6-day long theatre festival is being organised by Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust.
The inaugural function commenced with paying floral tributes to the portrait of late Khundongbam Brojendro and lighting of ceremonial lights along with a performance of Pena.
A festival souvenir was also released during the programme.
Manipur Sahitya Parishad Imphal former president IS Kangjam; RK Nimai IAS (Retd.) and Khundongbam Brojendro Ningsing Mana awardee Moirangthem Inao graced the inaugural function as the chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, IS Kangjam said that social issues are reflected in the plays of Khundongbam Brojendro which shows the credibility of the director and the artistes.
He continued that there are many aspects of research in his plays.
Recounting the significant contributions made by Khundongbam Brojendro through his works especially in Shumang leela and radio plays, he highlighted the need of organising similar festivals to sensitize the public about this eminent theatre personality.
The play titled 'Echasa Epa Lamboirage' of Rupmahal Theatre directed by L Brajamohon Singh was staged today.
A large number of spectators turned up to watch the play.
