Imphal, April 13 2023:
Executives of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) 2022-23 led by its president Thokchom Sonamani released 'Penga' fingerlings in the ponds located inside the varsity campus on Thursday.
MMU Social and Culture secretary Harlyson Ngathem said that the release of fish fingerlings has been done with the idea of ensuring availability of the fish adequately in the state.
Import of fish from other states at low price has drastically affected local fish farmers as well as economy of the state, he said and urged the people not to be dependent on others but work hard to bring about a self-reliant society.
