AR conducts lectures, counselling session, distributes sports items

Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a lecture on career counselling and distributed sports items with sweets to INA Memorial School, Kwakta in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the basic aim of the campaign was to impart knowledge on career prospects and recruitment procedure to join Indian Army as Agniveers, Central Armed Police Forces and other government and semi-government sectors.
Loktak Battalion assured the youth all kinds of assistance including registration, theoretical classes, training of computer skills, physical training and communication skills.
In order to generate interest in the students in the field of sports, various sports items were also distributed to the students.
On the otherhand, Phundrei Battalion conducted career counselling at Sugnu during which the participants were informed about various job opportunities in defence services, Agniveer, CPOs and other government departments.
Students were also briefed on the selection procedures for defence services.
Aspects concerning security of the area, government initiative for war on drugs and illegal immigrants from Myanmar to Manipur were also highlighted to around 75 students.
Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) also organised a motivational lecture on various employment opportunities under different government schemes at Sainoujang village in Churachandpur district on Thursday.
The event was also organised to build harmony and understanding between the youth and the security forces, and use the same as a platform for talent hunt in the field of sports for recruitment in Aimed Forces.
A total of 30 locals from Sainoujang, Leijangphai and Pamzal villages participated in the event.
Meanwhile, Sehlon Battalion on Thursday conducted a workshop cum awareness programme for Sehlon villagers with an aim to create awareness and educate the villagers on the importance of stress management and ill effects of addiction with special focus on drug addiction and drug abuse.
According to PRO IGAR (South), the villagers often face significant barriers and social stigma while talking about mental health and addiction.
By undertaking such events in those areas, the Battalion aims to bring awareness among the local population about stress management, drug addiction and drug abuse as part of War on Drugs campaign, the PRO said, adding that such events can provide a helping hand towards confidence building measures among the locals and bring out the importance of mental health and identification of drug abuse.
