Central team inspects AIR Transmission Centre

Imphal, April 13 2023:
A high ranking team comprising officials of Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Prasar Bharati, New Delhi visited Jiribam to evaluate the feasibility of the newly installed All India Radio Transmission Centre on Thursday.
As per a release, the team was led by Union Ministry of I&B deputy secretary N Sanatomba Singh and accompanied by undersecretary M Rajendran; PBS, New Delhi DDG (CG&PBB) Anjani Kumar; AIR (NER) DDG Guwahati SM Tanwar Alam; AIR, Imphal director (E/HoO) N Nandakumar; AIR, Silchar AD (E) KP Yadav and DDK, Silchar DD (E) Somarjit Singh.
The team visited different villages located within the jurisdiction of Jiribam district and evaluated the technical feasibility and reach of the AIR Transmission Centre.
The Transmission Centre is expected to be manned by AIR, Imphal and will relay different programmes/news originating from AIR, Imphal and AIR, New Delhi, it added.
The release also mentioned that the team visited the BSNL Office at Jiribam and held a meeting with its officials.
They also met officials of Jiribam district administration and villagers to seek their comments and suggestions regarding the AIR Transmission Centre.
The team will further discuss the enhancement of programme contents during a meeting to be held at AIR, Imphal on Friday.
It may be mentioned that the Union Ministry of I&B had decided to increase the network of AIR and DD and a budget of Rs 2500 crore had already been allocated for this purpose.
