Cheiraoba greetings

With the arrival of Sajibu Cheiraoba, many political leaders and organisations in the State, led by the Governor have extended their heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur.
In a statement, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that Cheiraoba symbolizes the coming of a New Year and is a festival celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm and gaiety.
She urged everyone to rededicate themselves to strive for peace, prosperity and progress.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that Cheiraoba is a celebration of the New Year with family feasts, offerings to God, sharing food with neighbours and giving gifts by women folk to their brothers, uncles, fathers etc.
"The climbing of hills and hillocks in the afternoon symbolises the overcoming of obstacles and hurdles in the coming year", he said.
The Chief Minister wished for the "Ching Kaba" of Cheiraoba to mark the successful overcoming of these obstacles through unity, perseverance and clarity of thought and action.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Satyabrata Singh also joined in conveying his wishes for good health, wealth and happiness to the people on this sacred occasion.
Meanwhile, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Minister RD & PR wished for the festival of Cheiraoba to bring peace, love and harmony to everyone.
The United Committee Manipur (UCM), Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) and All Manipur Dharma Raksha Samiti have also extended Cheiraoba greetings to the people.
In a statement, UCM wished that the arrival of Sajibu Cheiraoba will bring about a fair society filled with prosperity, love and harmony where differences in religion, ethnicity etc are embraced and celebrated.
CADA prayed for all communities residing in the State to have a bountiful year and urged people to pledge to stay away from narcotic substances.
Lastly, All Manipur Dharma Raksha Samiti extended their wish for all ethnic communities of the State to live together in peace and harmony.
