Imphal, April 13 2023:
A Cabinet meeting was held today at the Senapati mini-Secretariat and it was the first Cabinet meeting held at a hill district headquarters under the BJP 2.0 Government.
The Cabinet meeting resolved to bifurcate 44 Principals and non-teaching staff from Higher & Technical Education to Dhanamanjuri University.
Briefing media persons at his Lamphel Sanakeithel residence this afternoon, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan informed that the Cabinet meeting agreed to modify the 'One Family, One Livelihood Mission' so that all entrepreneurs who are 65 or younger can apply in any sector.
As agreed at the Cabinet meeting, all the qualification criteria and specifications specified earlier for the scheme would be removed, Dr Ranjan said.
It was resolved to extend the service of VDF of all districts from April 1, 2023 till March 31, 2024 .
The Cabinet gave its approval to direct purchase of land for Ishok Chingphu police outpost, he conveyed.
The State Cabinet agreed to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of late Yanglem Priyobarta Singh of Nachou Awang Leikai, Ward No 2 and a Government job to the next of kin.
Yanglem Priyobarta was a VDF personnel and he died in an unfortunate incident.
Further, the State Cabinet approved a compensation of Rs seven lakh to the family of Md Manjul Ahmed.
Md Manjul Ahmed was a Police Constable posted in Reserved Line and his death was said to be custodial death.
Apart from promoting two Hindi teachers of Education (S) Department as Assistant Professors of Hindi Teachers' Training School, 44 Principals and non-teaching staff of Higher and Technical Education would be bifurcated to DM University as per a Cabinet decision, Dr S Ranjan said.
The Cabinet meeting also gave consent to appointment of programme contractual staff for the National Mission on Edible Oils.
Establishment of a sewage non-plant and intermediate pumping station at Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai and direct purchase of land with NDP fund for the Integrated Sewage System for Imphal City Phase-2 were some other resolutions adopted at the Senapati Cabinet meeting, Dr Ranjan conveyed.
The Cabinet further resolved to appoint five Junior Engineer Grade-1 (Electrical) and 16 Junior Engineer Grade-1 (Mechanical) under the Works Department on contractual basis, he added.
"They had, in fact, informed the Government that they would abide by the order of the authorities.
Yet, the police suddenly appeared in the dead of the night with bulldozers and razed the Church and chowkidar's quarters etc inside the compound without giving time for people to collect their possessions.
All the furniture, pulpit, music instruments and everything inside the Church were destroyed.
Mildly stated, this is needless cruelty! That Christians are being specifically targeted is evident from the fact that other structures built on Government land such as Temples are not being demolished with the same vigour," said ZSF urging the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) to investigate the matter.
