Heirok MLA resigns as advisor to CM

As the Biren 2.0 government celebrated its first anniversary on Thursday, the party's MLA from Heirok assembly constituency Thokchom Radheshyam, who had been a cabinet minister in the Biren 1.0 government, has resigned from the post of advisor to CM.
MLA Radheshyam submitted his resignation letter to the chief minister on Thursday.
In his resignation letter, the MLA said: "I tender my resignation from the post of Advisor to CM as I have not been given any responsibility so far".
He further Said that he would like to contribute and focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and development works in his constituency.
Announcing his decision in a video message to the public, which was uploaded on his social media handle, MLA Radheshyam said that he has been pondering over the thought of resignation for the last few days.
He conveyed how retired teachers and officials of other departments were seeking his help in getting their pensionary benefits as he is holding the post of the advisor to CM.
For the same reason, people of his constituency often asked him to bring up the issue of deplorable condition of the main roads and other inter-village roads in his constituency, especially in Heirok Part 1 and 2 areas.
Despite being an advisor to the CM, he could not fulfil their demands or do anything to address their plight, which made him rethjnk his position, the MLA said, adding that after giving much thought over the situation, he took the decision of quitting from the post on moral ground and focus his efforts in taking up development works in his constituency as well as mobilising party members for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Radheshyam also revealed that he spoke in this regard with the chief secretary over the phone on April 1 and informed about his intention to resign from the post.
Meanwhile, a source said that MLA Radheshyam has been staying in New Delhi for the past few days.
The source further said that some BJP MLAs are also staying in the national capital.
However, the source could not confirm the reason for their stay in the national capital.
Mention may be made here that BJP MLAs have been raising the demand for at least one minister in each district to strengthen the party's base.
On the other hand, the BJP government celebrated the first anniversary of Biren 2.0 in Senapati district on Thursday.
CM N Biren, his council of ministers and several MLAs from both BJP and its allies attended the function.
