90 pc households covered under JJM in Toubul

Of the total 400 households in Toubul village under Oinam assembly constituency, around 90 percent have been provided safe and adequate drinking water under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JMM), a programme launched by PM Modi to ensure regular potable water supply to every rural household.
Informing this during a press conference held at Toubul Water Supply premises on Thursday, Toubul Village Water and Sanitation Committee secretary Y Komol Singh said that people of Toubul village have been blessed with sufficient potable water under the mission with the support of the minister concerned, local MLA, department concerned and Th Helen of Toubul who donated the land for construction of the water supply scheme.
He further informed that water being supplied to the villagers is drawn from Loktak Lake and filtering process done at Toubul Water Supply, while stating that the committee has been able to supply water due to support and cooperation of the villagers.
A monthly tax of Rs 100 is levied from every household for maintenance of the scheme, he said while confiding that the committee is aiming to supply potable water free of cost to the people of Toubul.
