NYK Chandel, Thoubal kick off Swachhata Pakhwada

Thoubal, August 02 2022: Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel and Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal organised launching programs of Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) 2022 at the offices of NYK Thoubal and NYK Chandel respectively today.

Swachhata Pakhwada is a nation-wide intensive cleanliness and hygiene campaign to be held from August 1 to 15 .

The objective of Swachhata Fortnight is to create awareness about cleanliness and to motivate the youth in taking a lead role in undertaking cleanliness and hygiene campaigns, a statement from NYK Thoubal has informed.

The action plan for the 'Cleanliness Fortnight' were finalised with various activities to be carried out by NYK volunteers and youth club members like poster campaigns, seminars, cleaning drives of public institutions like PHCs, Anganwadi centres, plastic collection drives, rallies, knowledge competitions like painting, quiz, essay, slogans etc on the theme of cleanliness and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav culminating in Har Ghar Tiranga campaign between 13-15 August.

The NYK Chandel program was attended by executives of KSO Machi and MSU Machi blocks wherein discussions were held on the Intensive Youth Club Development Campaign set to be carried out in Machi block from August 4-14.On the other hand, the launching program of Swacchta Pakhwada and Intensive Youth Club Development Campaign (IYCDC) of NYK Thoubal was graced by Ksh Memcha Devi, District Fatnily Welfare Officer Thoubal, Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer (DYO)-NYK Thoubal, K Lokendro Singh, DACYP member and Th Nabakumar Meitei, secretary, Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (AVBD) Thoubal as resource persons.

The IYCDC exercise of NYK Thoubal will be carried out in Lilong Block from August 2-14 by 10 volunteers of NYK Thoubal, who were briefed by the resource persons.

The IYCDC has 5 major components, namely, affiliation of youth clubs with NYKS and updation of youth club members data, social media onboarding of youth clubs, Covid vaccination awareness drives with youth clubs, source for stories of unsung heroes and tree plantation in their honour, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to motivate households to display the tricolour in their houses and at youth club offices.

NYK Thoubal and AVBD Thoubal will also jointly organise a blood donation camp on August 13 on the occasion of Patriots Day.

Both launching programs of NYK Chandel and NYK Thoubal were closed with Swacchta (Cleanliness) Pledges led by DYO Michael T Mate.
