CM Biren, others file nomination papers

Imphal, February 05 2022:
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh filed his nomination papers for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Heingang Assembly Constituency on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket today.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by BJP State president A Sharda Devi.
He filed his nomination papers at the office of the Returning Officer (RO), Heingang AC, Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.
The fifth day of filing of nominations also witnessed four other candidates submitting their nominations in Imphal East district.
Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro Singh (BJP) also filed his nomination papers at the office of RO, Khurai AC, Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.
On the other hand, Kshetrimayum Biren Singh (JD-U) of Lamlai AC also filed his nomination papers at the office of RO Surma Thiyam.

Wahengbam Rojit (alias Bullet) of the JD-U filed his nomination in Kshetrigao AC at the office of RO Subinson Sapam.
Keisham Ningthemjao (INC) of 7-Andro AC also filed his nomination papers at the office of the RO Karam Uma Devi.
In Kangpokpi, Soshim Gurung (JD-U) and K Lhouvum (NPP) filed their nomination papers at the offices of concerned ROs to contest the forthcoming election in Kangpokpi AC and Saitu AC respectively.
Two Independent candidates of Saikul AC namely, Chungkhokai Doungel and Kenn Raikhan, too filed their nomination papers today.
In Bishnupur district, Nameirakpam Loken (INC) and Tongbram Robindro (BJP) filed their nomination papers at the offices of concerned ROs today to contest the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election in Nambol and Thanga Assembly Constituencies.
Filing of nominations for the first phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election began on February 1 .
The last date for filing nomination papers is February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers would be taken up on February 9 .
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 11 .
The first phase of the two-phase polling for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly would be held in 38 Assembly Constituencies on February 27 .
The second phase would be held on March 3 in 22 seats.
The counting of votes will begin on March 10 .
