15 acres of poppy plantation destroyed

Imphal, February 05 2022:
A combined team of Churachandpur district police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Forest department and officials of district administration on Friday destroyed 15 acres of poppy plants found growing at Tuining Hill Range, Sangaikot sub-division, about 10 Kms east from CCP police station.
A case has been registered at Churachandpur police, station under Section 18 of NDPS Act for further investigation.
The area where the poppy plants were grown is a forest reserve area, said the Forest officials who were part of the drive team and informed that more plantations have identified in the area.
Along with NAB, relevant steps would be initiated to carry out the drive for destroying the poppy plantations, they informed.
