Left Apna Dal as advised: Manoranjan

JD-U candidate in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency and former state president of Apna Dal (Sonewal) Konthoujam Manoranjan has clarified that he left Apna Dal and joined JD-U following instructions of the party's central leaders.
Addressing a press meet at his residence on Saturday, Manoranjan said that the party, which is also an NDA ally at the Centre, was In the process of fielding around 20 to 30 candidates in the upcoming state assembly election.
Recently, he went to the national capital to meet the party's national president Anupriya Patel with a list of 25 candidates for final approval.
However, her husband asked him to drop the plan, confiding that union home minister Amit Shah requested him not to field any candidates as it might impact BJP's position in the state.
As a result, he had no other options but to drop the plan and shift party.
He was even offered a position in one of the corporations under the Central government headed by a union MoS, Manoranjan claimed, adding that the offer was declined as he was bound by promise made to people of his constituency and the state to contest the election and serve them better.
He then expressed his confidence that JD-U will give him a special place in the party considering his sacrifice.
He also assured of improving irrigation facilities by utilising the water of Nambul, Waishel and Merakhong rivers to make the farmlands in the constituency evergreen and also to improve agro-based industries in the constituency if he got elected.
