Imphal, February 05 2022:
The central office bearers (COB) of the Naga People's Front (NPF) has urged the Central Government to remove AFSPA 1958 from the entire North East region and to reach a logical conclusion on the Naga political issue with the negotiating parties during an emergency meeting convened today.
Other resolutions were also taken during the meeting, said a statement issued by NPF, Central Headquarters, Kohima.
The meeting resolved to 'wholeheartedly' work for the success of the NPF candidates in 12th Manipur Assembly election and sought cooperation from those who were denied the party ticket.
The meeting appreciated the UDA Government in Nagaland for recognising Tikhir tribe.
At the meeting, NPF central working president Apong Pongener said that NPF represents the identity and the desire of the Naga people.
While lauding the party rank and file for always standing firm for the cause and interest of the Naga people, the working president called upon the party leaders to remain steadfast inspite of facing all odds.
On the upcoming Manipur Assembly election, Apong Pongener said that all the 10 candidates of NPF are strong and have high prospects of winning.
He regretted that the party could not conduct its general convention for the last three years due to the Covid pandemic and added that the convention would be held soon since the Nagaland Legislative Assembly election is only a year away.
NPF secretary general Achumbemo Kikon stated that altogether 40 people applied for the party ticket to contest in the Manipur Assembly election.
