KIWT 2022: Phungtin Veng emerge men's football champions

The newly created locality in the town, Phungtin Veng became the champions of the men's football of the 18th edition of Kangpokpi Inter Ward Tournament 2022 after defeating Jonlhing Veng 3-0 in the final match today under unfavourable weather at Brigadier M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi.
The month-long biggest football festival of the town organized by Kangpokpi Youth Union was participated by all the eighteen wards of the town in various sports events including Under-15 football, men's and women's volleyball, veteran football and men's football where the men's football is the main highlighted of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was graced by ADC Sadar Hills Caretaker Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing as chief guest while Thanglenlal Doungel, social worker and Angam Leivon, Chairman Kangpokpi Town Committee attended as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
The unfavourable weather condition failed to deter the spirit of thousands of fans from both Jonlhing Veng and Phungtin Veng who with drums and trumpets cheered their respective teams during the final match.
The final match was kicked off after inspection of players by dignitaries led by ADC Sadar Hills Caretaker Chairman Haokholal Hangshing.
Phungtin Veng got off to a bright start and found an early lead in the 7th minute through Seiminlun before Lunpithang scored either side of the break (42', 65') to make it 3-0 .
Despite the strong defensive attack in the second half, Jonlhing Veng had multiple goal mouth chances but they failed to convert them into goals owing to the stronger defence of Phungtin Veng.
Phungtin Veng eventually wrapped up the game 3-0 and were feted with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while the runners-up Jonlhing Veng received a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 .
The U-15 football champions, Dr GG Crozier Mission Compound were awarded a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 as the runners-up Nanglhun Veng received a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
Veteran football champions Jonlhing Veng were in the meantime presented with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 20,000 while the runner-up Sipinthei Veng received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000 .
Women's volleyball champions, Moltinchan Veng were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while the runners-up team, Ahsijolneng Veng received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
Men's volleyball champions, Dr GG Crozier Mission Compound were also awarded a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while the runners up Tintong Veng received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
Best discipline team, Chengjapao Veng besides Haochon of Jonlhing Veng, Lalkhanlen of Kholmun Veng and Kaigoulen of Jonlhing Veng who were respectively named man of the final match, top scorer and best fans' player of the tournament were also feted with trophies and cash prizes.
