Congress-CPI alliance: Many resign from CPI at Wangjing-Tentha

Denouncing the alliance between CPI Manipur State Council and Congress for the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 48 members of CPI Wangjing-Tentha Local Council led by Haobam Robindro (Roben) have resigned from the party.
Their resignation letters were submitted to the State secretary, CPI Manipur State Council through the local secretary.
Addressing a meeting of CPI Wangjing-Tentha Local Council at his residence in Wangjing Wangkhei, former State executive member of CPI, Haobam Robindro informed that at the meeting of CPI Manipur State Council conducted earlier, most of the Councillors expressed their reservation against the pre-poll alliance with Congress.

However, some leaders of the party decided to form an alliance with the Congress in spite of the reservations made by the Councillors, he alleged.
Robindro continued that the members of CPI Wangjing-Tentha Local Council decided to resign from the party to protest against the alleged undemocratic decision made by the leaders of CPI Manipur State Council ignoring the opinions and wishes of party members.
He also announced that other members of the party would tender their resignation in a phased manner.
CPI Wangjing-Tentha Local Council former secretary, Th Hemobi stated that the councillors of CPI are against the pre-poll alliance with the Congress party.
Th Hemobi also raised questions over the motive behind the party not fielding a common candidate in Wangjing-Tentha AC.
Th Brajamohon of Kairembikhok and L Brajamani along with other prominent members of CPI Wangjing-Tentha Local Council attended the meeting.
