Imphal, February 05 2022:
In an interesting turn of events, at least in Uripok BJP, chief spokesperson of the saffron party, Chongtham Bijoy has declared that he will not support the BJP candidate in Uripok AC Ksh Raghumani (Retd IAS) in the 2022 Assembly election.
Notably, Ch Bijoy was an intending BJP candidate from Uripok seat but Ksh Raghumani was named the party's candidate when the list was announced.
Speaking to the media at his Lamphel residence today, Ch Bijoy continued that he joined the BJP in 1994 and contested the Assembly election on the party's ticket in 1995 .
Saying that he would never leave BJP under any circumstances and stay with the party in both its ups and downs, he added that the BJP gained its strength due to this stand of numerous party members.

Further stating that he neither supports the BJP Uripok candidate nor indulge in any activities that would be detrimental to his political career, Bijoy said that he is considering voting for NOTA.
On the telephonic conversation involving Raghumani that went viral on social media some days back, Bijoy said he condemns the Uripok BJP candidate for undermining him and BJP State unit vice president Minabanta in extremely distasteful tones.
Accusing the BJP State unit of not taking any disciplinary action against Raghumani for his misconduct against a senior member, Bijoy asserted that the party giving its ticket to Raghumani is a humiliation.
Bijoy then said that he would soon file a defamation lawsuit against Raghumani as the party hasn't done anything to right the wrong.
He appealed to the party leaders to not take his decision wrongly as the lawsuit will be filed for a personal matter.
"During the UPA Government I & II, its chairperson Sonia Gandhi was often targeted as the exclusive power centre with no accountability and now another body is trying to take BJP in the same direction," he alleged.
No action has been taken against Raghumani, Bijoy said and claimed that the BJP which should have only one command centre now has multiple centres of command due to the interference of this 'another body' .
Saying that he joined BJP believing in the party's stand against dynastic politics, corruption and black money, Bijoy maintained that he applied for the BJP ticket to enforce the core actions and ideology of the party which seems to have been forgotten here.
Bijoy further stated that he is opposed to certain parties active in North East and Bihar finding their foothold in Manipur as the same could be detrimental to the State.
