Second session of healers' conclave held

44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) organised an awareness cum interactive session on lifestyle diseases on the second day of Assam Rifles healers' conclave in Tamenglong district on Saturday in collaboration with Department of Medicine, Medical College, Silchar.
According to PIB (Defence) Imphal, Dr Ayan Purkayastha attended as the resource person coordinated by Unit CMO commandant SS Shah.
Dr Ayan virtually addressed the attendees at Tamenglong and highlighted various aspects related to lifestyle diseases and risks associated with them.
He addressed various lifestyle related diseases like heart diseases, stroke, BP, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and other chronic problems.
He also spoke on ill effects of smoking, alcohol and drug abuse and further emphasised on the importance of healthy lifestyle based upon balanced and nutritious diet, positive health and attitude.
On the sidelines of the conclave, the unit also carried forward its health care initiative to reach out to far flung and remote areas of Tamenglong district.
Contributing towards Fit India Movement and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the unit organised free medical cum health awareness camp Ayush Aapke Dwar at Azuiram village.
The battalion medical team examined patients from various age groups and distributed free medicines to the locals.
Covid awareness and information on CAB was also spread through various posters and cutouts, added a release of PIB (D) .
