River bank collapses, six houses affected

Jiri, July 11 2022:
With the water level of Jiri River receding gradually after the recent bouts of torrential rainfall, parts of the river bank on the western end Jiri Keithel located in Babupara collapsed on Monday, affecting six houses.
Though there is no report of any casualty, several properties of the six houses have been lost as they fell into the river.
Consequently, district administration has set up a perimeter and banned entry.
Residents and shop owners in the affected area and its surrounding have also been advised to shift to safer place or not to stay there during the night.
Jiribam Municipal Council and district police are also taking up necessary mea sures to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
