AFS cases confirmed in Bishnupur farm

Imphal, July 11 2022:
Bishnupur additional district magistrate (ADM) Hanjabam Bobby Sharma has notified that the M/S Rainbow Piggery Farm, Leimaram Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district has been declared as 'Controlled Areas for African Swine Fever (ASF)' with immediate effect, after ASF positive cases were confirmed from the Farm on Monday.
In an order issued Monday, the ADM directed that as containment measures for the infectious disease, no pig will be moved from the place where it is kept within the controlled area and sale of pig, pork, feed and related items in the mentioned geographical areas have been banned.
Further, the area falling within 1 km radius from the epicentre of the disease is declared as 'Infected Zone' and areas within 9 km radius as 'Surveillance Zone' for taking up control and containment procedures, it mentioned.
The order also cautioned that any person/ institution/organisation found violating any of these containment measures will be punished under the relevant Act.
