Imphal, July 11 2022:
Manipur Milk Producers' Cooperative Union Limited, in its special general body meeting held at GM Hall here on Monday, unanimously resolved to nominate former veterinary director Dr Ch Nandakishwar as the interim managing director of the union.
Interacting with the media after the meeting, union's chairman Ch Ramananda said that appointment of managing director of the union from among department has been hampering the union's functioning.
Considering the situation, the union decided to nominate the retired vet-erinary director, who is well versed with the National Programme for Dairy Development, as the interim managing director until a regular MD is appointed, he said.
The union, following a resolution adopted by the board of directors, submitted proposals to nominate Dr Nandakishwar to the post of MD twice in March and June.
However, the government has not taken up any action in this regard and as such the general body meeting took the decision of appointing Dr Nandakishwar as the interim MD, the chairman said.
He also urged the government to appoint a regular MD at the earliest, stating that a regular MD is key to improving conditions of the union and its member farmers.
On the other hand, Monday's general body also raised strong objection against the government for skipping procedures for appointment of managing director.
