Workshop on Lai Haraoba concludes

Imphal, August 31 2022:
'Lai Haraoba Sintak Sindamba', a 15-day workshop cum training programme organised by Manipur Pandit Loishang (Maru Loishang) concluded on Wednesday.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Pandit Achouba Wahengbam Lukhoi stressed the need for weeding out activities, which are not related with Lai Haraoba, during the religious festival, and to keep it true to its form in order to conserve the age old tradition and culture.
Manipur Pandit Loishang secretary Maibam Hanjaba Ngangbam Ranjit said that the workshop is an annual event but they had skipped the last two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Its main objective is to conserve the true form of Lai Haraoba.
Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, who attended the closing ceremony as chief guest, released the second edition of 'Advance Ephemeris - 2023' on the occasion.
AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang also attended the closing ceremony as guest of honour.
A two-minute silence was observed in honour of deceased 'Mai-chous'.
Later, certificates were distributed to the participants of the workshop, which was participated by around 300 people related with Lai Haraoba ritual as well as students and scholars from different colleges.
