JAC sets deadline

JAC against the missing of Md Achouba has demanded the Government to establish the whereabouts of Md Achouba who is missing since August 12 within the next 48 hours (starting 12 pm today) .
Moulana Alauddin Qasim, representative of the JAC, said this at a sit-in protest held at Kwakta today and added that if the Government fails to find out the whereabouts of Md Achouba within the stipulated time, the JAC is prepared to launch strong protest with support from various CSOs.

He told the press that Md Achouba Buyamayum (42) of Kwakta Cherang Pat, a brick mason by profession, had gone to Ukhrul for construction of a water supply tank in Kalhang village and a Church at Huisu village.
The family members made the last contact with Md Achouba on August 12 on mobile phone but no contact could be established since then, he added.
The JAC had already submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister and the local MLA regarding their demand, he added.
Kwakta GP member Anisha said the family members of Md Achouba had visited the worksite at Ukhrul on August 16 but there was no sign of him following which a missing person report was filed at the police station concerned.
