AAP to begin membership enrolment drive in state

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), North East in-charge Rajesh Kumar has announced that the party will start membership enrolment drive in Manipur in view of increasing popularity of the party in the region.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, Rajesh Kumar said that there is report of more people in the NE region keen to join the AAP in view of its growing popularity.
As such central leaderships of the party decided to launch the enrolment drive to strengthen position of the party in Manipur, he confided while noting that AAP received encouraging support from the people of Manipur when the party fielded its candidate in 2014 Lok Sabha election.
As the party's central leaders have now started focusing in the North East to strengthen the party, the AAP will now start going together with youth, women and public and membership enrolment drive in Manipur will start soon after identifying volunteers and the drive could even be conducted at house-to-house level to make people aware about AAP's ideology clearly.
AAP will take part in every election in the NE after success in municipal elections in Assam, he said, while adding that AAP has councillors in Guwahati, Lakhimpur and Tisinpur in Assam.
There was overwhelming support from youth for the party when a survey was conducted at Cotton College in Guwahati, Assam and party's volunteers are all set to launch drive in Manipur, he said, adding that modality of facing election will be chalked out based on report of the drive/survey.
According to Rajesh Kumar, AAP is preparing to take part in municipal and local body elections in Manipur and the party will collect opinion from public in this regard from rural areas of the state first.
The party has firm belief that good candidates will come out in Manipur and party's preparation for fighting election in the next five years will be based on performance in the local body elections.
