Students protest passenger fare hike

Imphal, December 03 2021: Denouncing charging of fare from students and public at their own sweet will by passenger service operators, students of Manipur College blocked Mayai Lambi road for nearly an hour on Friday.

Just after noon, large number of students of the college holding placards against passenger fare hike came out and blockaded Mayai Lambi road after crossing Pishum bridge.

Upon learning the news, a team ofSingjamei police led by the SDPO rushed to the spot and tried to control the agitating students.

When police tried to clear the jammed traffic, some students opposed the police action, thereby resulting in intense tussle between the two sides.

Later, CDO Imphal West OC came at the spot and held talk with the students.

Thereafter, the traffic jam was cleared and normalcy restored.
