Imphal, December 03 2021:
Slamming chief minister N Biren for his recent statement of 'demanding vote to get peace', AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das said that the statement was unconstitutional.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhawan here on Friday, Bhakta Charan Das said that the CM's statement is akin to threatening the public of violence if they do not give their votes to BJP.
It was an unconstitutional remark and the CM should take it back.
A true politician should never use such intimidating words but plead for public support.
It was very unorthodox of the CM to use such words, he said.
Maintaining that CM Biren has no right to give lesson on peace to the public, he said that violent incidents occur under the BJP rule in the state and the way BJP formed the government in the state in 2017 was the beginning of its violent and unconstitutional policies.
The public are well aware of how peace and prosperity elude them with lakhs of youth living their lives without much hope and support from the government.
Government schemes hardly reach the people in rural and interior areas of the state.
Programmes like Go to Village has not given anything substantial to the rural population.
It is questionable why the BJP government took up GTV again just before the election after ignoring the villages for a long period.
Contrary to its claim, the BJP government has also failed to implement the UPA era schemes like MGNREGS and NFSA properly, he said.
MPCC president N Loken, spokesperson Debratta and general secretaries L Tilotama, Hareshwar Goswami and Jiten were also present during the press meet.
