IBSD hosts national seminar on bio-economy

Imphal, December 03 2021:
Department of Biotechnology of Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) organised a national seminar on "Bioeconomy from Bioresources with special reference to North Eastern Region of India' on Friday.
The seminar is part of IBSD's series of programmes for the development of bio-resources of NER to promote in differeht context under the leadership of IBSD, Imphal director professor Pulok K Mukherjee.
Speaking at the programme, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology secretary Dr Rajesh S Gokhale highlighted the various bioresources available in North Eastern Region of India and stressed on the development of economy of the region using these local resources.
He mentioned that these resources should be: utilized to maximum capacity to benefit the local people of this region.
Dr Gokhale also appreciated Prof Pulok Mukherjee for taking up such initiatives in the NER and assured all possible support from the side of Department of Biotechnology.
On this occasion, Dr Gokhale also released a booklet titled "Biotechnology support in North Eastern Region".
Many experts including De-vesh Deval, Dr Jubilee Pur-kayastha, Dr P Albino Kumar, Dr Rajkumar Tomba, Dr Amitabha Bandyopadhay, Dr L Dinachandra Singh, Dr L Nabachandra Singh and Prof Kh Ibohal Singh shared their bioresources.
The seminar was attended by progressive farmers from different villages, students and scientists of IBSD and shared their ideas about importance of local bioresources.
