Churachandpur, December 03 2021:
The Zophai Bridge constructed across Lanva river near Vaalveng section was inaugurated by philanthropist Khanthang Tensing, s/o ex-minister late T Phungzathang, on Friday.
The Zouphai Bridge was constructed at a total expenditure of Rs 20 lakh plus and is stated to be able to withstand heavy vehicles.
It connects Zouphai locality and New Lamka localities.
Khanthang Tonsing inaugurated the bridge by cutting a ribbon and unveiled a plaque while it was dedicated to God by area pastor K Ginkhanthang.
During his brief speech, Khanthang noted that the bridge is very important as it acts as a link between one area of land and another, calling it a peace bridge considering its importance.
The bridge was constructed by Khupzatawn Valte, a social worker, out of his own pocket because there had been no pliable bridge in the locality over Lan va river, thus making the people from both the sides unable to communicate smoothly.
