Imphal, November 24 2022:
Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) Standing Committee chairman and seven members jointly submitted a written request to the Chief Minister through Commissioner (MAHUD) urging to comply with the interim order passed by the Manipur High Court on November 4 with regard to the writ petitions filed concerning the Corporation.
The written request pointed out that the High Court had given an interim order on November 4 staying some orders which were issued on August 23 and September 1 this year.
However, the officials concerned not only have failed to comply with the order but have been violating the stay order.
As the administrator of the 27 ULBs cannot be found regularly, the officials of ULBs are facing huge inconveniences.
Even the current administrator is sitting at the Secretariat instead of at the office in IMC.
In addition, there are only 21 working days in a month, and a lone administrator is looking after 27 ULBs based in 4 valley districts.
Thus, the written request appealed to the government to uphold the High Court's order and allow the caretaker mayor and the Standing Committee to resume work related to the order immediately.
