Demise of Sitara Begum condoled

All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC), United Manipur Muslim Women's Development Organisation (Hafiz Hatta), Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur, United Committee Manipur (UCM), Meipak Ningthou Committee (MNC) and United Muslims Council (UMC), Manipur have condoled the demise of social activist and All Manipur Muslim Wpm-en Development (AMMWD) president A Sitara Begum of Kshetri Chandam Leikai popularly known as ' Ima Sitara' who passed away on Tuesday.
In separate releases, the civil bodies prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
UCM also held a condolence meeting at its head office, Lamphelpat which was presided over by president Joychandra Konthoujam.
The congregation observed a two-minute silence in her memory.
Meanwhile, a condolence service heldat the residence of 'Ima' Sitara Begum on Thursday was attended by Assam Manipuri Muslim Meira Paibi Lup, Cachar advisors K Anita Devi, K Upen Singh and Khamnusan Chowdhury, president Jubeda Begum, women activists, social Activist BM Yaima Shah, Andro police station OC Md Riyaz Shan and Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh among others.
While recalling the activities and contribution of 'Ima' Sitara for socio-political and economic uplift of the Meetei Pangal community settling in both Manipur and Barak Valley and observing a minute's silence in honour of the departed soul, a sum of Rs 10,000 pooled in by women's organisations of Cachar district in Assam was also handed over to family members of the departed woman leader.
