Imphal, July 31 2022:
In commemoration of the historic mass rally taken out on August 4, 1997 for the protection of territorial integrity of Manipur, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) will observe Manipur Integrity
Day on August 4 by offering floral tributes at the Manipur Integrity Pillar near BT Park, followed by a public convention at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall.
In a release, AMUCO publicity secretary Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman recalled that the organisation organised a massive rally against government of India's plan to balkanise Manipur on August 4, 1997, thus, demonstrating the strength of the people
irrespective of communities.
Later, a public meeting was held at Polo ground and adopted resolutions to jointly fight against all forces (external and internal) trying to destroy the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur.
Stating that AMUCO has been observing Manipur Integrity Day for the last 25 years, Krishnachandra contended that government of India continues to pose challenges to the integrity and territory of Manipur in one way or other.
Despite such ploy of the Central government to disintegrate Manipur, people have been and will continue fighting against all forces that try to break apart Manipur.
He further said that with a hidden agenda, the government of India has been trying to create enmity among the communities who have been living together since time immemorial.
As such, every community should think critically and never stand against one another as it would be akin to falling together into the trap being set, he cautioned.
AMUCO has been working towards fulfilling the resolutions for the protection of territorial integrity of Manipur and for a united Manipur, he stated, while urging the people to attend the observance and reaffirm their stand of protecting unity and integrity of Manipur.
