Dy CM takes swipes at BJP : 'NPP will head next Govt'
Source: The Sangai Express

Thoubal, February 16 2022: Taking a swipe at its coalition partner BJP which is heading the State Government, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has stated that the next Government will surely be led by NPP after bagging over 20 seats.

Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony of NPP candidate in Heirok Constituency Ningthoujam Diten at Ukhongshang today, the Deputy Chief Minister said that NPP opted to back BJP which won just 21 seats in the Government formation in 2017 to deliver better governance to the people as the saffron party was in power at the Centre too.

Claiming that it was NPP that offered the Chief Ministerial post to N Biren Singh, Joykumar alleged that BJP, however, is constantly striving to weaken NPP in contradiction to their claim of serving the people together and efficiently.

"The last five years have been spent in saving the Government rather than taking up developmental activities," the Deputy Chief Minister asserted and asked what positive changes the State Government led by the BJP has brought in the State.

"There is not much difference between the BJP and the Congress which governed the State for 15 years," Y Joykumar continued.

Saying that the 12th Assembly election is very crucial as it would decide the fate of the State, Joykumar said that the people should be wary of this and vote accordingly.

The people of Manipur have already experienced the regime of Congress and the saffron party and now is the time to give the opportunity to another party like the NPP, he declared.

He then urged all the electors to give their mandate to the NPP and assess the party.

The Deputy Chief Minister also attended a public meeting held at the residence of NPP candidate in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC Soibam Subhaschandra Singh at Ningombam Mayai Leikai, today.

There, Y Joykumar compared BJP to a ship that is on the verge of sinking.

The biggest blunder the BJP committed was giving false hope to multiple candidates in many Constituencies, he said and added that he too applied for BJP candidate before the 2017 Assembly election.

Saying that many of the candidates who were denied the BJP ticket couldn't be consoled even by the Prime Minister, let alone Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Joykumar added that this development is a sign of BJP's impending defeat while the NPP will emerge as the single largest party and form the next Government.

The BJP would never have been in power without the assistance of the NPP, the Deputy Chief Minister said and added that the NPP will never leave the people to their fate.

No party will secure an absolute majority in this election and as such the next Government will also be formed through partnership, Y Joykumar said and maintained that the NPP, fortunately, doesn't have bad blood with any party.
