JP Nadda to release BJP manifesto today

BJP national president JP Nadda would be releasing the party's manifesto for the election to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly in a function to be held at the Imperial Hall of Hotel Classic on Thursday around 1.30 pm.
During a press meet held at the party's state office here on Wednesday, Election manifesto committee chairman and union MoS for external affairs Dr RK Ranjan informed that JP Nadda would be arriving especially for the event in a special flight and leave for the national capital after releasing the manifesto.
Responding to a query regarding AFSPA, RK Ranjan said that the party understands the sentiment of the state and its people but the situation still needs observation.
The co-convener of the election manifesto committee L Nishikanta had also raised the matter to the chief minister and it indicates the party's stand to remove AFSPA.
However, the state alone cannot decide on this matter since it involves national security and removal or repeal of the Act should come from the Central government after close observation of the law and order situation, he said while refusing to further comment on the issue.
As for the demand to include the Meetei/Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribes list, he said that the demand could not be fulfilled within a short period of time as it involves minute exercise.
It will need proper documentation with facts and figures, the chairman said, while adding that the party's manifesto priorities development.
He also said that the manifesto has been prepared after collecting opinions and suggestions from different sections of the public while upholding the interest of every section of the society by following the 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayash' slogan of Prime Minister Na-rendra Modi.
Road connectivity is one of the most important factors for bringing development in a society and the government is putting its focus on it.
The BJP government delivered the promise of Makru and Barak Bridges within a short span of time.
Conditions of state highways have improved and funds have already been sanctioned for improving inter-district connectivity.
Railway line will reach Tupul by March and there is plan to extend the reach up to Moreh.
With the improvement of inter-state connectivity and development initiatives taken up by the government, the state will become a major hub under Act East Policy.
Law and order situation has improved significantly in the state and the era of bandh and blockades has gone, Dr Ranjan elaborated.
He further said that poor people are being provided free healthcare services.
PM-JAY cards and CMHT cards have been provided to 3.63 lakh and 4.46 lakh beneficiaries respectively.
The NDA government has sanctioned Rs 560 crore for development RIMS, said the Union Mos and also mentioned about old age pension scheme, NSAP scheme, free coaching class for civil service examination aspirants, school modernisation under School Fagathansi mission, PM-KISAN, modernisation of Thoubal Multipurpose Project, financial assistance under MUDRA & PMEGP loans, effective implementation of MGNREGS, free LPG connections and construction of women's market complexes in hill districts as the BJP government's key achievements.
