Thongju candidates share vision for AC, state

Candidates who will be contesting the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections from Thongju Constituency shared their reason for contesting election and vision for the constituency and the state with The People's Chronicle on Monday.
INC candidate Seram Neken said that he wants to change the existing political culture by reforming the business oriented mindset of those entering politics into that of in service of the people, apart from delivering the entitled benefits of the people.
His first task would be to take up steps to improve the irrigation system in the constituency, establish a connectivity link between the people and the representative, and setting up a sports fund.
Neken then said that his vision is to utilise the talented youth of the state, set up industrial units and formulate an economic policy for youth empowerment.
JD (U) candidate Sanglakpam Preshyojit Sharma shared that he wants to address the grievances of the youth and elderly citizens.
His first work would be to improve the irrigation system, in addition to improving the livelihood of the denizens and focusing on the education and health sector.
For the state, he would encourage entrepreneurs to become job providers so as to improve the economy and also strengthen the harmony between the hill and the valley.
The People's Chronicle could not reach Minister Th Biswajit, who is BJP's candidate in Thongju for the ensuing polls.
