Wangkhei AC poll candidates share their objectives

In an attempt to inform the public about the objectives and visions of the candidates who are contesting the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, The People's Chronicle interviewed the four candidates in the fray for the seat of Wangkhei A/C.NPP candidate Yumkham Erabot confided that he is contesting the election to make the people know about the wrong and misdeeds done to him.
He further said that he will focus on preserving historical sites in the constituency and will also preserve Tribal Colony' located in ward number 21, which is a symbol of Manipur unity.
Meanwhile, INC candidate Rajkumar Priyobarta Singh said that he is contesting the election so as to bring transparency in doing welfare activities.
While confiding that he will focus on reviving government schools and developing river banks to prevent flooding during Monsoon season if he got elected, Priyobarta assured of making a green Manipur and will further try to form 'Tree Act' so as to prevent cutting down of trees from forest land.
He continued that he will work for removal of AFSPA from the state and restore freedom of expression.
JD (U) candidate fhangjam Arunkumar revealed that he is contesting to fill up the inadequacies in the constituency and to resolve the pending issues of the state.
He assured of improving road connection, providing potable drinking water to every household and availing PDS items adequately to all the beneficiaries if he got elected.
Sharing his vision for the state, Arunkumar said that he will try to improve the economy of the state by utilising local resources in creating products.
He will also promote tourism so as ensure means of income for the youth in particular.
BJP candidate Okram Henry said that he is contesting the election to help the underprivileged and vulnerable people of the constituency and also to solve the problems faced by the people.
He said that he will give priority to development of human resources and will frame policies for enhancing the economy of the poor people if he won the election.
As the law and order situation in the state has improved, Henry said that he will try to set up industries in the state and end the problem of unemployment in the state.
