Imphal, February 16 2022:
The flag hoisting ceremony of Republican Party of India (Athawale) Keishamthong candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam was organised at Hodam Leirak ground here on Wednesday.
As part of the ceremony, RPI (A) national president and Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale led a mass rally in and around the constituency, followed by a public meeting at Hodam Leirak and later on, a press meet at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
The press meet was attended by Maheshwar, who is also the state unit president and north east in-charge of the party Vinod Nikalje.
Briefing the media, Ramdas stated that even if all the nine RPI (A) candidates do not win, at least 4-5 of them will emerge victorious.
He then recalled that the party proposed an alliance and seat sharing of 2 seats to BJP president JP Nadda and CM Biren around 3 months ago.
However, no response was received.
Nonetheless, RPI (A) is one of the alliance partners in the NDA government.
Ramdas then observed that without industries, there cannot be job creations.
Thus, he plans to invite businessmen from Delhi and Mumbai to set up industries in the state to generate jobs for the youth.
He assured of extending all help from the Ministry's side in this regard.
In his speech, Maheshwar said that he has been extending support to the denizens of Keishamthong AC.
However, he was unable to do the same for the entire state realistically, owing to his present status and thus, he could not give a commitment previously.
Contending that he would not let the efforts of the people go to waste, he urged the people to extend their support in the upcoming polls.
He then commented on the rescheduling of the polls to February 28, stating that he was shocked as the day happens to be his birthday.
Thus, he hoped to receive the blessings of the people on this day as his birthday gift.
Maheshwar then said that people will not be disappointed with the work he can do as a youth.
If he were to win the election, he will uplift the constituency into a model constituency within one year, adding that an elected representative normally waits for LADF to carry out development works but the various schemes under different ministries could be sought for the same.
