Thoubal, February 16 2022:
In-spite of heading the coalition government the BJP schemed to weaken the National People's Party (NPP) in the last five years while neglecting issues of importance, alleged NPP national vice president and deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar.
Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of NPP candidate for Heirok assembly constituency Ningthoujam Diten held at his Ukhongsang Mayai Leikai residence on Wednesday , Y Joykumar contended that chief minister N Biren has been repeatedly attempting to dislodge its alliance partner NPP from the coalition government.
BJP just indulges in lip service with slogans such 'Go to Village', 'Go to Hill', 'School Fagathansi Mission', etc., but there is no ground work.
Now the public are fully aware that the BJP-led government hasn't brought any significant changes in the state, he maintained.
Y Joykumar continued that BJP is no different from the Congress and the five-year reign was dominated by suppression of democracy and throttling of freedom of speech.
As such, people now know both Congress and BJP, he reiterated and appealed to the people to vote for NPP to taste the difference.
In his address, Heirok AC NPP candidate N Diten stated that if NPP comes to power and he is elected then it will focus on improving education sector with free education for children belonging to weaker section of society.
AFSPA which has tormented the youth of the state will also be repealed from the state, he asserted and sought the support of the people of Heirok AC in bringing positive change in the AC and state.
The programme was also attended by NPP Heirok AC president Kh Shyama Meitei, former minister N Mangi, NPYF national president Ratika Yumnam and other party leaders.
