Student bodies condemn transfer of teachers

MSF, DESAM, KSA and another students' body have denounced the transfer of teachers from Jiribam Higher Secondary School by an order of Education (S) director.
In a release, the bodies stated that there sense of jubilation after the govern ment filled up vacant posts of teachers in Jiribam district on April 24, dissipated as the Director of Education (S) L Nandakumar Singh issued an order transferring Jiribam Higher Secondary Arts Graduate teacher Laishram Banita Devi and Sorok Athingbi High School science graduate teacher Pukhrambam Paikhombajeet Meitei.
Such transfer of teachers from Jiribam is disrespect to the student community, he contended.
There is no hope that meritorious students will be produced despite the government taking up policy for improving schools because of the issuance of transfer order of teachers on April 27 just after the teachers joined their duties three days earlier, the release stated and questioned whether schools in Jiribam are a joining institute for teachers and why teachers are transferred after filling up.
They urged authorities concerned to revoke the transfer order and make the teachers who recently joined the schools to continue teaching the students.
Teachers should remember that they have a vital role in educating the students for a better society, the release continued, while cautioning that if teachers were found absent, then they will complain to authorities concerned for terminating them from service.
