Bishnupur, April 30 2023:
The JAC Against Brutal Killing of RK Ningol Laishram Ongbi Bidya Devi and Apunba Lup Ningthoukhong have vowed to carry on with their protests until the arrest of the culprits responsible for the death of the deceased.
This was stated by Dr IS Konthoujam during a press conference held today at Ningthoukhong Bazar.
Addressing the media persons, he claimed that the post mortem report lacked clarity and demanded a more comprehensive report.
He added that the JAC has got a hold of the Court proceedings, however, the culprits are yet to be produced.
As a result, the final rites of the deceased have been put on hold for the time being, he added.
Expressing confidence in the assurances offered by the Chief Minister and the YAS Minister, he also urged the police to be thorough in their investigation and to submit the chargesheet as soon as possible so the perpetrators can be punished.
Speaking on the occasion, Nungshibabu Heisnam, convenor, Apunba Lup Ningthoukhong alleged that Bidya did not die by suicide while adding that the wound marks on her body are a clear evidence of this.
Nungshibabu Heisnam also appealed to the police to file the FIR under Section 302 of the IPC (according to this, a person committing murder shall be punished with a death sentence or imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to pay a fine) .
He then sought the support of the public as well as CSOs in their fight to deliver justice to Bidya.
Meanwhile, meira paibis of the locality also staged a sit-in protest at Ningthoukhong Bazar with black flags.
