Chief Minister, others greet on May Day

Chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers Yumnam Khemchand Singh and H Dingo, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of International Workers' Day, popularly known as May Day.
In his message, chief minister Biren said that the International Workers' Day is observed to honour the struggles and gains made by workers and labourers for improving their working conditions and demanding higher wages.
It was on this day in the year 1886 that the labour class came together and revolted against injustice meted out to them by the elite class of the society and raised their voices for paid leaves, good wages, and proper breaks, N Biren said.
Recognising the important contributions made by the working class and labourers in the development and economic growth of the country, the central ' government has come up with eShram portal for creating a comprehensive National Database of unorganised workers and for extending social security benehts/welfare schemes to the workers registered under the portal, N Biren informed.
"On this day, let us acknowledge the contribution of every worker in the progress of our country", N Biren added.
On the other hand, in separate releases, ministers Khemchand and Dingo, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra and International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) IPR assistant secretary Thoi Okram expressed their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of workers of Manipur as well as around the world.
They also wished the people of the state happiness, prosperity, and success in both personal and professional lives.
