North East Tourism Festival concludes

Ukhrul, April 30 2023:
The three-day North East Tourism Festival for promotion of tourism, handloom and handicrafts organised at Huishu river bank, Ukhrul District, Manipur came to a close on Saturday.
On the last day of the festival organised by Ukhrul Hills Development Foundation (UHDF) through NEHHDC, Guwahati and funded by NEC, Shillong, NG Lorho, president, UNC graced the program as the chief of the closing ceremony and Somi Brain RK, Director, Meitram Construction Limited also attended the program.
Speaking on the occasion, the UNC president said that such festivals must be organised in the future as well to showcase the beauty of the land through which development can be brought in the region.

Ningchui Graceson Shatsang, convenor of the Organising Committee and Managing Director/ CEO of UHDF also pointed out the lack of development in the region while adding that the festival will leave a good impact on society and bring about significant development.
The event officially closed at 1pm on April 29 .
It is noteworthy to mention that the second day of the festival held on April 28, was a cultural extravaganza, graced by Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, retired IPS, Education Minister as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that due to its location along the Indo-Myanmar border, Huishu village seems to have been neglected in the past.
However, he assured to speak to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to include the North East Tourism Festival in the calendar of annual Manipur Festivals immediately to mobilise appropriate funds so as to upgrade the standard of the event next year.
Further, the Education Minister assured to upgrade Huishu Primary School to upper primary school level and develop infrastructure including school building, teachers residential quarter and hostel for students in the village.
On top of this, in a telephonic conversation, the Minister of Public Works has promised to undertake the construction of Bailey Bridge and 19 km road stretch of road of Kuirei-Huishu IVR during the financial year 2023-24, he added.
Wungpam Rakhai, intending MLA candidate from Chingai 45/ AC and retired Brigadier Rajive Kumari Singh, Managing Director, NEHHDC, Guwahati were also present on the second day.
