HC disposes case filed against KMC

Imphal, August 10 2022:
A single bench of Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh of High Court of Manipur on August 8 disposed the writ petition hied against Kakching Municipal Council (KMN) directing its caretaker chairperson to strictly adhere to the conditions mentioned in the order (04-12-2021) issued by the state government during his remaining tenure as caretaker chairperson.
The case was filed by Yengkhom Ratan and four others on July 19, 2022 praying the High Court to direct the state government not to allow the caretaker chairperson and the executive officer of KMC to take any major financial decision till the election of new chairperson and the conclusion of the vigilance case respectively and also to set aside certain notices issued by the Council.
While conducting the proceedings of the said case, the counsel for the caretaker chairperson and the executive officer made the submission regarding the question on maintainability of case as there was no cause of actions for filing the said petition.
Finally, the petitioner's counsel submitted before the court to close the writ petition by issuing a direction to the caretaker chairperson to strictly abide by the said order, issued by the state government for appointing him as the caretaker chairperson.
As such, after hearing the arguments of both sides, the High Court disposed the said case.
