Imphal, October 20 2022:
The proposed indefinite economic blockade along all the national highways in Manipur sector from October 22 midnight has been postponed to November 3 in view of upcoming Hindu festival Diwali and the most awaited festival Ningol Chakkouba in the valley of Manipur, said All Manipur Tribal Development and Grievances Forum (AMTDGF) .
In a release, Forum general secretary Gangonglung Khumba expressed strong resentment against decision of the government of Manipur for only partial payment of funds under the MGNREGS in all hills districts of Manipur contrary to its demand for 100 per cent release of funds.
The Forum would like to remind the government to release funds under MGNREGS for payment of outstanding due wages, material components and liabilities pending for the fiscal year 2019 to 2023 at the earliest possible, the general secretary said, while cautioning that it will be compelled to impose indefinite economic blockade on all national highways if the government fails to honour the
demands within October 30 .
