CCpur denizens alerted on dengue spread

Alarmed over the rising dengue cases in Churachandpur district, chief medical officer Dr Kimngaihching on Thursday convened a press conference at her office and briefed about the situation in the district.
The CMO called for a collective effort by the people and the authorities concerned to contain the spread and rise of dengue cases.
Dr Kaisiankhai, integrated disease surveillance programme officer, and Dr Liangoumuan, district malaria officer, were present at the press meet.
CMO Dr Kimngaihching told the press that if symptoms like high fever, joint pains and measles types are not detected timely they may develop into D1C which can lead to internal bleedings and in certain cases blood will come out from the mouth and nose of a patient.
She advised all not to take self-prescribed medicine and suggested taking of paracetamol and drinking of plenty of water while stressing the need for self-care.
According to Dr Liangoumuan, there are 21 confirmed dengue cases so far but no fatality.
Most of the cases are caused by aedes mosquito bites.
This type of mosquito is the main bearer.
Since January to Oct 10, 2022, eases of dengue had been reported and through Elisa test at JNIMS, 21 cases have been confirmed.
Most of the cases were reported from Singngat, Maukot, Vajing, Khominthang, New Bazar and Vengnuam south and others.
The incubation period is 3-7 days.
The doctor advised people to use mosquito net, mosquito repellent, and long pants for those who frequently go to forest.
He further advised all to clear stagnant water around their residences and surroundings among others.
He also informed that fogging and case investigation and other means have been carried.
Highlighting the measures which have been adopted so far, Dr Kaisiankhai, IDSP officer, informed that testing with a target is 40-50 persons will be conducted at suspected areas on Friday.
