Shiv Sena splits in state, new office opened

With the split of Shiv Sena into two in Maharashtra, one led by Uddhav Thackeray and the other by Eknath Shinde, an office of the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, Manipur state has been opened on Thursday near Urban Cooperative Bank at Singjamei parking with Toijam Devanand as state leader.
Addressing media persons after opening the office, Devanand said Shiv Sena Manipur unit had been functioning from Babupara but the new office at Singjamei parking has been opened after Uddhav Thackeray convened a national meet at Shivaji Park in Mumbai and directed state unit of the party to open a new office.
He also contended that the party led by Uddhav is the real Shiv Sena and the new office of state unit of the party has been opened in the interest of the people.
According to Toijam Devanand, Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Manipur unit has started functioning with effect from Thursday with the appointment of several officer bearers, including Sam Laithangbam, Khaidem Ranjit and Ninghor Jajo as vice presidents, RK Suraj as general secretary (administration), Thokchom Bhubon as general secretary (organisation), Ch Chandramani as joint secretary (administration), Nambam Jugish Singh as treasurer and Chirom Geet as spokesperson.
He also said that the Shiv Sena unit will field candidates in the upcoming local body elections under the 'flaming torch' allotted as its symbol by the ECI.
Joining the media briefing, vice president Sam Laithangbam said that the party will take part in every election in Manipur and appealed to candidate aspirants to approach the party for ticket.
