Dengue cases spike in CCpur

CCpur, October 20 2022:
With 8 new cases detected in the last 4 days, Dengue cases in Churachandpur district have spiked to 21 .
The district health officials have taken stock of the situation with the CMO office and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) urging the public to take up necessary precautionary measures.
The latest cases were detected from Nehru Marg, Vengnuam South, Vengnuam, Zenhang Bazar and Kanan Veng.
Today, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) team conducted fogging exercise at Kanan Veng where a 38-year-old man is said to have tested positive for Dengue.
Sources said at least 21 persons have contracted Dengue this year.
The cases however spiked in the recent days forcing officials to pull-up their sleeves.
As precautionary measures, health authorities have asked people to clear stagnant water in their surroundings to kill and avoid disease carrying mosquitoes from laying eggs.
People have also been advised to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts and use mosquito nets while sleeping to avoid mosquito bites.
Anyone showing signs and symptoms of the case have been advised to immediately seek medical advice and not to take medicines on their own without seeing doctors.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness.
Mild dengue fever causes a high fever and flu-like symptoms.
The severe form of Dengue fever, also called Dengue hemorrhagic fever, can cause serious bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure (shock) and death.
Dengue fever causes a high fever�104 F (40 C) � and any of the following signs and symptoms: Headache, Muscle, bone or joint pain, Nausea, Vomiting, Pain behind the eyes, Swollen glands and Rash.
Most people recover within a week or so.
In some cases, symptoms worsen and can become life-threatening.
This is called severe Dengue, Dengue hemorrhagic fever or Dengue shock syndrome.
Warning signs of severe dengue fever�which is a life-threatening emergency � can develop quickly.
The warning signs usually begin the first day or two after the fever goes away, and may include: Severe stomach pain, Persistent vomiting, Bleeding from gums or nose, Blood in urine, stools or vomit, Bleeding under the skin, which might look like bruising, Difficult or rapid breathing, Fatigue and Irritability or
restlessness.
If symptoms develop, visit a doctor and follow the treatment.
Dengue patients are advised to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
Drink water or drinks with added electrolytes.
