Imphal, October 20 2022: A capacity building program for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)/Bankers/Financial Institutions in Energy Efficiency (EE) / Renewable Energy (RE) domain was held today at Hotel Yaiphaba, MG Avenue.

The program was jointly organised by Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry(MCCI), Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA), Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and the Department of Trade Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur under the aegis of Global Environment Facility (GEF), United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) program.

Director of Department of Trade Commerce and Industry, Yumnam Robita; MSPDCL Managing Director, Ng Subhachandra; MANIREDA Senior Scientific Officer, Babita Thangjam and Executive Director (Technical), Nodal Officer SDA, MSPDCL, H Shantikumar graced the occasion as the presidium members.

Speaking at the occasion, Yumnam Robita said that the program is organised to raise awareness on energy efficiency to prevent pollution in the State.

She maintained that if energy efficiency, which is to use less energy to achieve certain benefits, is practiced effectively, then it will help in reducing the level of pollution to a great extent.

H Shantikumar while presenting the presidential speech, emphasized on the importance of energy efficiency for a sustainable future.

He went on to inform that various programmes are being taken in different sectors to reduce carbon emissions for a healthy and greener future.

Expressing that excessive extraction of fossil fuels pose serious damage to living beings, he stressed on the need of taking up strict measures to curb such activities to prevent any untoward outcome.
