Khelo India Kakching centre opened

Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) minister Govindas Konthoujam on Thursday inaugurated the Khelo India District Centre, Kakching for Badminton discipline at the Indoor Stadium, Kakching Chumnang Leikai.
The inaugural function, which was organised by YAS Department, was attended by YAS principal secretary Ch Chhabra, director T Phulen, deputy director T Thouba, DYSO Thoubal/Kakching T Chitaranjan, and Kakching District Badminton Association president Pukhrambam Ranakumar as guests of honour.
Speaking as the chief guest, minister Govindas recounted that PM Narendra Modi launched the Khelo India campaign with the emphasis of maintaining good physical for good mental health.
As part of this campaign, Khelo India District Centres have been opened in districts of all the country, with Kakching district selected for Manipur.
Expressing belief that the state would be able to produce more exemplary badminton players, he informed that CM Biren, who also used to be a sportsperson, has been urging the central government to open similar centres in all 63 sub-divisions of the state.
He then urged the people of the state to continue supporting the government's 'War on Drugs' campaign to save the young people from the influence of drugs.
In his speech, YAS director T Phulen informed that the central government has given approval for opening around two Khelo India District Centres per district.
The first centre for Kakching district was opened for the badminton discipline and efforts are underway to open the second centre for another discipline.
He then urged all for concerted efforts in producing more exemplary sportspersons.
