Ukhrul, Kamjong gear up for special summary revision

The District Election Office (DEO) of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts is all set to begin preparations for a special summary revision (SSR) of photo electoral rolls.
Briefing media persons in this regard at the conference hall of DC Ukhrul on Wednesday, DEO of Ukhrul & Kamjong Krishna Kumar informed that the special summary revision targeted for January 1, 2023 would entail various preparatory activities.
He said that Block Level Officers (BLOs) would visit house-to-house for Aadhaar linkage to include those left out, for which Form 6 B would be used and Form 6 for fresh enrolment.
Collection of data for death/permanently shifted/double entry for deletion would be done through form No 7 and shifting, correction, marking of PwDs and issue of replacement of EPIC card through Form No.8, he said, adding that filing claims and objections will continue till December 8, 2022.He continued that as per amendment in the Registration of Electoral Rules, 1960 and notification issued by Ministry of Law and Justice on October 26, 2022, the BLOs will collect forms 6 for every eligible citizen who attain the age of 18 years on any of the qualifying dates of January 1, 2023; April 1, 2023; July 1, 2023; and October 1, 2023.According to Krishna Kumar, the forms can be submitted through online via nvsp.in, https://voterportal.eci.gov.in or Voter Helpline Mobile Apps as well as offline through the concerned Booth Level Officers, AERO Office and ERO office.
Mentioning that random visit by EROs/SDOs/AEROs would be conducted in Polling Stations to monitor BLOs work, he said that training for BLOs in connection with SSR-2023 will also be held on November 10, 2022 at DRDA Training Hall, Ukhrul town for 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC; on November 15, 2022 at Phungyar, Kamjong, Kasom Khullen for 43-Phungyar (ST) AC and on November 14, 2022 at DRDA Training Hall, Ukhrul town for 45-Chingai (ST) AC.
He stated that January 5, 2023 has been set for final publication of electoral roll and added that EPIC cards would be distributed to newly enrolled electors of age 18-19 years on National Voters Day on January 25, 2023 .
The DEO further announced that Electoral Literacy Clubs would be activated in all schools and colleges and Chunav Pathshalas at all Polling Stations.
Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) activities can be entrusted to ZEO since it was done by the education department through ZEO during SAE-2022, he said, adding that 300 T-Shirts and 300 number of caps for SVEEP2023 have been received by the department.
The total number of enrolled voters in the three assembly constituencies of Ukhrul, Chingai and Phungyar currently stands at 12,8894 of which Chingai accounts for 47389, Ukhrul 46733 and Phungyar 34772 .
