Awareness programmes on Thang-Ta held

Imphal, November 09 2022:
Thang Ta Observation Committee under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) organised awareness programmes on Thang-Ta at Royal Academy of Science, Kongba Kshetri Leikai and Bikom High School, Nongada Kameng.
The awareness programmes were organised as part of the month-long observance programme on theme of 'Thang Ta for an ethical way of life', which will continue till November 15 .

Observation Com mittee chairman L Dhamendro, KIMACS examination committee chairman W Brojendro and KIMACS president N Ajitkumar attended the programme held at Kongba Kshetri Leikai as presidium members.
On the other hand, the programme held at Nonga da Kameng was attended by Bikom High School principal A Saumyowanta, State Kala Akademi awardee Athokpam Ojendro and Committee chairman L Dhamendro as members on the dais.

Dhamendro explained the significance of Thang-Ta in safeguarding the sovereignty of Manipur (Kangleipak) for several millennia.
The martial art form is an integral part of the tradition and culture of the state but today it is losing its sheen, he said while stressing the need for promoting them.
The chairman also called upon the people to learn Thang-Ta to promote the culture, tradition and morality of the state.
